WSE Test Result
Policy for Patients; Policy on Team Care and Same Day
appointments
If we order testing for you then we will let you know the results of that test, even if results are normal or negative. We will get the results to you as soon as we have received the results and have analyzed them. We do our best to get results back within 48 hours or less after the result comes back. If the results require more complicated analysis then it may be longer.
If you have signed up for the portal, we can send results to you through the portal.
If you prefer we can call you with test results. We may also call you if we want to be sure that you are notified of a critical result, even if you get other results through the portal.
If results are complicated or require a lot of explanation and/or decisions, then we will schedule an appointment for you to come in to discuss things. We hold spots reserved for these appointments so that it will not be a long wait.
Some of the tests we order take a long time (3-4 weeks) to return. These include the type 1 antibody panel sent to Barbara Davis Diabetes Center and the thyroglobulin panel sent to USC. Most other test results are back within one week so if you have not heard from us by 2 weeks after your tests were done PLEASE CALL US.
Also at each appointment help us be sure that we have your correct phone and email address in our system as well as your up to date mailing address.
If we recommend that your primary care practice/team do the testing as part of providing a consultation (advice), then that practice will be responsible for notifying you of the result.
If we order a test for you that you chose to have done at your primary care practice or another practice, you need to be sure that the results of that test are sent to us. Please check to see if we have received those results and if not, have the results faxed to us at 970263-2695. Please communicate with us if you have not heard from us about that test as we may not have received the results.
Remember, it is our policy to let you know the results of any tests that we order whether they are normal or not, so if you do not hear from us, please call us and help us track down the results.
We practice TEAM CARE which means that our entire staff works together as a team with care of our patients as their primary goal. This also means that the staff has roles and responsibilities for caring for you. They will help with the scheduling process, forms, lab and other test orders as well as reporting results back to you. They will help with calls with problems and help with your assessment during your visit.
We have appointment spots reserved for patients with urgent problems such as allergic reactions or side effects to medications or other problems with treatments as well as problems managing their condition. Please let us know if you need an appointment right away instead of a “routine follow up” appointment.
